The Body Antenna - Impedance

Chapter 1 of The Sage Age - Blending Science with Intuitive Wisdom covers aspects of the human body as a sophisticated, multi-faceted antenna system. To encourage discussion, the entire chapter has been divided into topic sections and presented as excerpts for download.

What impedes your flow of healthy vibes? Do outside forces induce a disruption in your flow? What happens to the flow when you resist? How can you increase your capacity for flow?

The three components that impede flow in an antenna system are resistance, capacitance, and inductance. Your body is a sophisticated, multi-faceted antenna system and to operate at peak performance, you need to bring it into balance.

This includes finding points of resistance to flow and increasing capacity. It also means identifying outside influences that induce a disruption of flow.

In this excerpt, we’ll use the analogy of water flowing through a hose. We’ll show how resistance can slow down the flow through the rest of the hose. We’ll also cover how a person’s capacity for flow affects the way their antenna works. And, finally, we’ll show how outside forces act like an elephant stomping on the hose that induces a disruption in the flow and can eventually damage the hose.

The Body Antenna – Multi Antenna Arrays

Chapter 1 of The Sage Age - Blending Science with Intuitive Wisdom covers aspects of the human body as a sophisticated, multi-faceted antenna system. To encourage discussion, the entire chapter has been divided into topic sections and presented as excerpts for download.

When groups of folks come together in the same location and meditate while holding or moving through the same body postures, they work together like a multi-antenna array that focuses a signal and strengthens it.

One prime example of how this works is the Very Large Array (VLA) antenna dishes in New Mexico, which is used as an astronomical observatory by receiving weak radio signals from space. The 27 antennas can be arranged in such a way so that they act as one gigantic receiving dish antenna.

Download the full excerpt to see how multiple antennas can be used to focus and strengthen a signal as well as ways they can be arranged to block interference.

Becoming Like Star People

Where science, psychology, and psi events meet
If you drew a 200 mile circle from where you are situated right this minute, it’s not likely that anyone within that radius is experiencing daily life very differently from the way you live. However, if you’ve been outside on a cloudless evening recently, you may have had a chance to see folks just over 200 miles above you who are traveling over 17,000 mph, and experiencing a day that is very different from yours. For instance, they are floating around in zero gravity and have seen about 15 sunrises in the last 24 hours. I’m, of course, referring to the current occupants of the International Space Station.

The station routinely houses a crew of multi-nationals who daily cooperate with each other to accomplish agreed upon goals and, ultimately, rely on each other for their well-being, both mentally and physically. They work in tight quarters under stressful conditions and must find a way to continually coordinate their focus on the group’s success. There is very little room on the station for a “me” attitude.

How amazing would it be for small groups of folks, who barely know one another, to come together regularly for a few weeks to accomplish specific goals in a spirit of cooperation while bringing to the project a profound delight to participate?

In this situation, each person has already done their own homework, both mentally and emotionally, to be considered an asset to the project. And, even though each one will be personally transformed by the experience in their own way, that is not their goal. Their individual and collective participation serves a larger purpose that is far beyond the people who are in the group. It directly serves all of humanity in a continuum that stretches back to the pioneers of space flight and ahead to those who will eventually walk on Mars.

The space program has rendered technological advancements that enhance daily life. Many of them seem mundane now, like the Teflon coated surfaces of pots and pans. As I watch the brightly lit star with people aboard pass by overhead, I delight in the idea that perhaps the program is also delivering a new way to think about living that simultaneously serves the individual and collective aspirations of the whole.

The Body Antenna – How Light Radiates

Chapter 1 of The Sage Age - Blending Science with Intuitive Wisdom covers aspects of the human body as a sophisticated, multi-faceted antenna system. To encourage discussion, the entire chapter has been divided into topic sections and presented as excerpts for download.

In the previous excerpt, we discovered how ritual body postures help tune the body’s antenna. In this second excerpt, we’ll see how light energy radiates.

By nature, charges seek equilibrium or balance. This is how energy is radiated from the body, an antenna, or a battery. An imbalance is necessary to cause electrons to move and, when they do, current is generated that creates a magnetic field in the surrounding area.

The analogy most often used to exemplify the flow of electricity along a wire is that of water flowing through a hose. But it is important to understand that electrical current in a wire is a special case of the overall propagation characteristics of how electromagnetic (EM) energy radiates. In free space, EM energy radiates as an unbounded wave.

Wave motion is the transport of energy without the transport of matter.

to get a better idea of how light moves energy in a self-propagating wave through the combination of two forces.

The Body Antenna - Ritual Body Postures

Chapter 1 of The Sage Age - Blending Science with Intuitive Wisdom covers aspects of the human body as a sophisticated, multi-faceted antenna system. To encourage discussion, the entire chapter has been divided into topic sections and presented as excerpts for download.

This is the first excerpt in the Body Antenna series and covers the effects of ritual body postures. The dimensions and posturing of the physical body allow it to work like a broadcast antenna that both transmits and receives, or transceives, multiple frequencies. Beginning in the 1960s, anthropologist Dr. Felicitas Goodman investigated the effects of ritual body postures among many cultures and traditions. She documented at least seventy that produced either subtle effects or full blown altered states of consciousness. Her work is carried on by the Cuyamungue Institute.

Ritual body postures come in two basic flavors, which are those that are held for a length of time, as in Yoga, and those that are fluid movements and held momentarily, as in Tai Chi. These postures allow the body to become two different types of antenna systems. Yoga postures are akin to a static antenna of fixed length that is tuned to transceive a specific frequency and its associated harmonics. They work like the rabbit ears on a television set. Tai Chi postures are akin to a radio scanner that transceives a variety of signals in serial fashion, meaning one after the other.

Download the full excerpt to discover how these two types of postures, combined with meditation, tune the body’s antenna system and increase the bandwidth of frequencies it can transceive.

Book Review - Living Deeply

Title: Living Deeply: The Art & Science of Transformation in Everyday Life
Authors: Marilyn Schlitz, Cassandra Vieten, and Tina Amorok
Publisher: New Harbinger Publications, 2008
Pages: 256
Amazon link
Living Deeply site

Attempting to document the process and aftereffects of a transformative experience is a daunting task. Ultimately, it is a personal and subjective event. However, the authors of Living Deeply succeed in bringing a scientific perspective and methodology to this subject as they skillfully explain what is otherwise ineffable.

The introduction to the book contains a well-delivered, brief education into how the authors define the terms “living deeply” and “transformative experience” as well as the term “noetic knowledge.” In doing so, they frame the reader’s perspective for the information presented in the rest of the book.

On the first page of the first chapter, the authors give their definition of consciousness. It is a necessary prologue because each field of study, from quantum physics to philosophy, has their own working definition of consciousness. In fact, an over-arching definition of consciousness that functions for multiple disciplines has become somewhat of a holy grail in its own right.

The rest of that chapter presents first-hand accounts of people who have undergone a transformative experience and how it has changed their perspective and behavior. While approaching the subject from this angle is not novel, what sets Living Deeply apart is the breadth of variety of the people interviewed. The content of this book is based on a decade-long research program and includes rigorously analyzed data from over 900 interviews. The participants were selected from a wide diversity of background and culture, including Eastern, Western, Middle Eastern, and Indigenous peoples.

After this initial presentation, the authors adeptly begin to explain situations, customs, practices, and beliefs that open opportunities for transformation. They also educate the reader on the different types of transformative experiences. The most basic type is the common “ah-ha” moment that opens a person to another perspective or deeper understanding. However, it usually does not produce life-changing effects. The more profound transformation is at the level of consciousness itself and it does produce long-lasting changes in the way someone relates to themselves, others, and the world.

The authors further explain the differences in the types of transformative experiences by stating that assimilating a new idea and accommodating it are not the same. Assimilation means we simply add a tidbit to our current belief system. But, if it won’t fit, we must widen our beliefs and our worldview to accommodate the new idea.

They also address the internal struggle of striving toward living deeply while enduring the necessary changes it brings by saying, “Even though you may have an internal resistance to change, you also have a natural inclination toward growth.” This is a profound statement of the nature of dualism, which is One knowing itself.

Each chapter is followed by a guided journaling exercise that helps the reader absorb the information and then bring it forward again into a working knowledge that has practical application in their own lives.

Toward the end, the authors restate why they wrote this book, which was “to develop a map of the transformative process that will help you do just that. We offer you a story of how transformation happens that is applicable no matter what spiritual, religious, or even atheistic philosophy you already hold.”

In my opinion, they have succeeded in their goal. Living Deeply is an experience, an education, and a workbook that will help you gain a noetic knowledge of the transformative process.

The Living Matrix Debuts in London

Where science, psychology, and psi events meet

A new film, The Living Matrix – The Science of Healing, features today’s leading frontier science researchers, psychologists, and holistic practitioners to view the body and healing using energetic information-based medicine methods.

The documentary was produced by Greg Becker and Harry Massey and was inspired by Becker’s seven-year struggle with chronic fatigue syndrome that left him bedridden. His road to recovery began when he met doctor of Chinese medicine Peter Fraser, who combines physics, biology and Eastern medicine into a treatment known as body-field therapy.

In part, the movie examines the role of quantum physics on biomechanical functions at the cellular level and finds that “our cells are senders and receivers of information, controlling our health in ways we never imagined.” It also address the scientific understanding of the placebo effect and what seem to be miracle cures.

The film features Dr. Fraser, cellular biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton, healer Dr. Eric Pearl, biophysicist Dr. James Oschmann, Director of Research at Institute of HeartMath Dr. Rollin McCraty, and others.

Folks facing health challenges also share their stories of using information-based therapies to treat chronic fatigue syndrome, an inoperable brain tumor, and cerebral palsy.

The Living Matrix premiered in London to a sold-out crowd and was followed by “The Science of Healing Conference” where participants were treated to workshops by presenters in the movie.

The DVD was released on March 13th, 2009 and is available on the site’s store.

Resolved to Practice Meditation or Yoga This New Year?

Practices such as meditation, yoga, and Tai Chi require that we place the body in certain ritualistic postures. Did you know that the body is a multi-faceted antenna system and positioning it in different postures helps attune that antenna from the bones all the way down to the cells? The way you position the body is critically important to the types of informed energies that it can both transmit and receive.

How the Shape of Things Affects Us

From the creation of the Platonic solids, which are five unique models that embody the perfect combination of whole shapes, to the beautiful and complex symmetry of a modern fractal pattern, humans have been fascinated with shapes and how they interact to create things. But did you know that researchers in biology and chemistry are now finding that shape has everything to do with the way our cells function and even how we can tell one smell from another?

A previous article on the body antenna detailed how placing the body in certain shapes formed by ritualistic postures aids in the transmission and reception of certain frequencies. It also touched on the conformational shape changes that happen at the cellular level just prior to a chemical exchange. It’s known as a receptor lock-and-key model because the receptor changes into a specific shape that will only accept a molecule that fits it like a key.

This is a very important discovery for biologists and pharmacologists because it will lead to new ways of targeting the delivery of drugs at much lower doses. Eventually, it may also lead to a new vibrational understanding of the physical body that will eliminate treatment by pharmaceuticals altogether.

One of the newest forms of drug delivery methods is through nasal sprays. The brain and nervous systems are protected from infection by what is known as the blood-brain barrier. The molecules that make up viruses and bacteria are too large to pass through the narrow passage. Unfortunately, this barrier also keeps drugs needed to treat the nervous system from being administered intravenously. However, the barrier can be bypassed via the nose. Have you ever noticed that certain smells can trigger memories? That’s because the most ancient part of the brain can be directly accessed through the nasal passages. This is also why aromatherapies are so effective. They stimulate chemical changes at the very root of the nervous system.

The combination of investigations into bypassing the blood-brain barrier with nasal sprays, the conformational shape changes of receptors, and the affects of aromatherapy led to a very interesting discovery. In 1991, Dr. Linda Buck headed a team of researchers at Harvard Medical School investigating the source of smell. What she found won her a Nobel Prize. It was well known that millions of nerve cells lie at the top of the nose near the eyes. On the surfaces of these nerve cells lie over 1,000 different smell sensors called odorant receptor cells. Buck discovered that these receptor cells work just like hormones and neurotransmitters in that they recognize shape and combine in a lock-and-key manner. But, unlike hormones and neurotransmitters, the odorant receptor cells are not exclusive to accepting only the one type of molecule they recognize. These odorant receptor cells can combine and reorder themselves to recognize 10,000 different smells. After binding, the cell sends a signal to two specific places in the olfactory bulb in the brain that carries messages to the primitive brain areas, which control emotions and affect the limbic system and to the higher brain areas that control conscious discrimination. In her book, Molecules of Emotion, Dr. Candace Pert describes the limbic system as a hypothetical construct that is considered to be the seat of emotions in the brain.

But, there’s another side to this story. Biophysicist Dr. Luca Turin believes that smell is not recognized by shape alone. He believes that it is a combination of shape and vibration. That’s because molecules with the same shape can smell very differently. Turin lives in France where the perfume industry is a multi-billion dollar business. Manufacturers often employ hundreds of chemists in an effort to isolate and develop new smells. Turin wanted to find a way to improve this process.

The vibrational theory of smell was first popularized by British scientist Malcolm Dyson in 1938. In 1977, the research was picked up by R.H. Wright who applied modern technological advances to his investigation. But neither scientist was able to explain how the process worked at a level that would satisfy the publication standards of most scientific journals. In the early 1990s, Turin used egg whites to show that proteins can conduct electricity. He concluded that the olfactory bulb cells could channel electrons like a battery and sense their vibratory content. Even with this new evidence, most of his colleagues dismissed Turin’s ideas out of hand without so much as even reading his paper. Finally, in 1996, Turin was published in Chemical Senses and his story was picked up by the media who sensationalized it. Turin’s research ultimately got the attention it deserved. Turin left academia and began his own scent molecule production company called Flexitral. By using the vibrational method to ascertain new smell molecules, he is able to employ just one chemist, making his company radically more profitable than other research and manufacturing facilities. In 1992, Turin wrote Parfum: Le Guide which has become France’s best-selling perfume guide in history.

To date, it has taken the efforts of pharmacologists, chemists, biologists, aromatherapists and a perfume manufacturer to shed new light on how shapes affect us. Through the blending of science with intuitive wisdom, we will continue to bring new models into play which will revolutionize how we understand the vibrational aspects of the body.
